HAI-O Enterprise Berhad group managing director Tan Kai Hee (pic) has pledged to give away his wealth to charity when he dies, major Chinese dailies reported.
Nanyang Siang Pau reported that Tan had planned to donate his wealth to a foundation which would be set up later.
The foundation would assist underprivileged groups, said Tan in an announcement on Wednesday.
He said although he did not know the actual worth of his wealth, it included his shares, properties and savings.
Tan said his shares were currently worth more than RM30mil while there was about RM1mil in his Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) account.
“I have donated the dividends from my shares – between RM1mil and RM2mil annually – to charity organisations since 2010. To me, this is very meaningful,” he said.
Tan said he hoped more people would involve themselves in charity work.
